Watch: Altuve's opposite field HR extends Astros' lead
Thomas B. Shea / USA TODAY Sports
Jose Altuve continues to prove why he's the American League's most valuable player.
The Houston Astros stud second baseman took New York Yankees reliever Tommy Kahnle deep in the bottom of the fifth inning, extending his team's lead to 2-0 in Game 7 of the ALCS.
It's the first home run Kahnle has allowed since Aug. 23.
With the opposite field blast, Altuve passes Yankees slugger and fellow MVP candidate Aaron Judge for the postseason lead with five.
