Sabathia yanked early in potential final game with Yankees

After nine years in a New York Yankees uniform, the CC Sabathia era may have come to an inauspicious end during Game 7 of the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros.

Sabathia managed to retire 10 Astros batters in the do-or-die game, dancing around five hits and three walks to allow one run before turning the ball over to Tommy Kahnle in the fourth inning.

The 37-year-old veteran, of 17 seasons, is set to become a free agent this winter and plans to pitch in 2018. However, whether the Yankees bring the aging left-hander back remains to be seen, though Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reported back in September that New York could entertain a one-year deal.

Sabathia's renaissance was well-established before his early exit in Game 7, as he managed to allow four earned runs over his past three playoff appearances this postseason, including a dominant six-inning performance against the Astros in Game 3.
