On the same day slugger Hanley Ramirez underwent left shoulder surgery, the Boston Red Sox announced left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez also went under the knife.
The 24-year-old underwent a right knee patellofemoral ligament reconstruction and is expected to return to pitching in approximately six months, according to a release from the Red Sox, per Rob Bradford from WEEI.
Rodriguez's surgery was performed by notable surgeon Dr. James Andrews at the Andrews Institute in Florida.
The southpaw made 25 appearances - 24 starts - during the regular season, posting a 6-7 record in 137 1/3 innings.
Over his three-year career, Rodriguez owns a 19-20 record with a 4.23 ERA and 1.29 WHIP.
