Former Chicago White Sox pitcher Daniel Webb died in an ATV accident in Tennessee on Saturday. He was 28 years old.

His death was confirmed by both the White Sox and Humphreys County sheriff Chris Davis on Sunday. While few details were released, police told WPSD Local 6 that Webb suffered head trauma. Davis said Webb's death was a "tragic accident, and we should rally around the family."

"Daniel left many friends within the Chicago White Sox organization, and we are all shocked and stunned by the news of last night's terrible accident," the White Sox said in a statement Sunday. "He was a terrific young man with a full life ahead of him."

Three other people, including Webb's wife, were injured in the fatal accident, Humphreys County police also told WPSD. Two people involved were taken to a Nashville hospital, where they're in serious condition.

Webb was originally an 18th-round draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2009. He made his big-league debut with the White Sox in 2013 and appeared in 94 games for the club over his four-year career, posting a 4.50 ERA, 93 strikeouts, and a 7-5 win-loss record. His best season came in 2014, when he appeared in 57 games and owned a 3.99 ERA.

After appearing in just one major-league game in 2016, he was released by the White Sox last November. Webb did not pitch in any organization this season.
