Yankees' Sabathia, Astros' Morton to face off in Game 7

Robert Deutsch / USA TODAY Sports

With Game 7 of the American League Championship Series being forced with the Houston Astros 7-1 victory on Friday night, the home team will send Charlie Morton to the mound while the visiting New York Yankees will go with left-hander CC Sabathia in a pitching rematch from Game 3.

Sabathia last took the ball after the Yankees fell behind 2-0 in the series. The 37-year-old proceeded to completely shut down the Astros' offense, allowing three hits over six shutout innings. Over the course of the 2017 postseason, Sabathia has a 2.30 ERA over 15 2/3 innings.

Meanwhile, the Yankees chased Morton from Game 3 after 3 2/3 innings with the 33-year-old allowing seven earned runs on six hits while walking two. In eight innings this postseason, Morton owns a 10.13 ERA.

In the winner-take-all game set to go on Saturday, the Yankees and Astros will compete for the right to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series, who clinched their berth in the Fall Classic after beating the Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship Series on Thursday.
