Watch: Shaw walks off Davis, Cubs to keep Brewers in Central race

If the Milwaukee Brewers end up catching the Chicago Cubs, Saturday afternoon's 10-inning thriller will probably be looked upon as the turning point.

Cubs closer Wade Davis blew his first save in over a year by allowing Orlando Arcia's tying blast in the ninth inning, before the offense briefly let him off the hook in the top of the 10th by scoring a run off Jeremy Jeffress to take a 3-2 lead. But things unraveled again for the All-Star closer in the bottom half: After Ryan Braun hit a one-out double, Travis Shaw delivered the knockout punch with a walk-off blast to opposite field that gave the Brewers a much-needed 4-3 win over their rivals and sent Miller Park into a frenzy.

Shaw's blast was the first walk-off homer ever allowed by Davis in 303 career relief appearances.

Thanks to Shaw, Milwaukee is now just 4 1/2 games back of the Cubs in the NL Central race, and the Rockies in the push for the second NL wild-card spot. The win also ended Milwaukee's three-game extra-inning losing streak against the Cubs, a run that's included 10-inning Chicago wins in the first two games of this weekend's critical series.
