Jansen: Dodgers 'still the best team in baseball' after snapping losing skid

Kenley Jansen couldn't care less about the Cleveland Indians' 20-game win streak.

The Los Angeles Dodgers closer was given the daunting task of locking down his club's first win in 12 games Tuesday, and he pulled through with 1 1/3 innings versus the rival San Francisco Giants.

Though the Dodgers hadn't won since Sept. 1, they still own the best major-league record at 93-52, and Jansen is adamant the numbers don't lie despite their recent nasty slide.

"Everybody is going to go through a tough stretch," he told Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times after his 37th save of the season. "We are going through one right now, finally. It’s just part of baseball. What are you going to do, panic? Say we can't play any more? No. We are going to get out of it. When we get out of it, everybody is going to have to watch out again.

"I don't care how good the Indians are playing. I don't care how good the (Washington) Nationals are playing. We are still the best team in baseball."

Before dropping 11 straight, the Dodgers were sitting at 92-41, 11 1/2 games above the Nationals for MLB's top record.

But thanks to the combination of their skid and the Indians' historic stretch, the lead has been reduced to just four games.
