Eckersley opens up about infamous Price spat: 'I was humiliated'

Now nearly two months removed from his fabled confrontation with David Price, Dennis Eckersley is comfortable addressing the fallout from the incident.

Eckersley and Price were involved in a verbal spat in June aboard a Boston Red Sox flight in which the southpaw reportedly took issue with the NESN analyst's on-air comments about Eduardo Rodriguez's rehab performance. Following the game, Price allegedly waited for Eckersley to board the flight and blocked his path to the back of the plane before openly mocking him in the company of other Red Sox players.

The 62-year-old commentator has been quiet about the incident since returning to the broadcast booth, though, speaking on WEEI's Rob Bradford's podcast Wednesday, Eckersley shed some light on the fallout from the incident.

"I was humiliated, to be honest with you," Eckersley said. "As far as talking about this, I've never said anything. You're the first person I've really talked to about this. I don't want to make it anything more than it is."

In the aftermath of the incident, Price criticized Eckersley for not being in the clubhouse often enough, but also praised him for being more positive following the remarks. Though Price also suggested he planned to eventually talk with Eckersley, the Hall of Fame pitcher told Bradford the two have never spoken and he doesn't expect them to.

"Ultimately this comes back to the dude doesn't like me," Eckersley told Bradford. "I get it. It's cool. Let's move on. ... Why would I want to talk to him, you know? He's not the first guy that doesn't like me. I get it."
