Report: Harper to rejoin Nationals on Monday

Patrick McDermott / USA TODAY Sports

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper will reportedly be activated off the 10-day disabled list before Monday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, sources told Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post.

Harper has not played in a game for the Nationals since he hyperextended his knee on Aug 12.

Janes adds that the current plan for Harper's activation could change if the 24-year-old still feels pain in his leg Monday.

Harper has spent the past six weeks on the disabled list after his foot slipped off first base while he tried to beat a groundout against the San Francisco Giants. He looked to be in considerable pain on the Nationals Park turf after the incident, though an MRI ruled out any ligament damage.

Nationals manager Dusty Baker hinted Saturday that Harper was "very close" to a return to the lineup.
