Through the remainder of the regular season, we'll take a look at how the night's action impacted the playoff races, highlighting which teams' postseason odds went up or down significantly.

The Colorado Rockies haven't made the playoffs since 2009, and that drought may well extend another season if they don't get their act together soon.

With a 4-3 loss Tuesday to the lowly San Francisco Giants, the fourth in their last six games, the Rockies' playoff odds dropped a whopping 12.8 percent, as their tenuous lead over the Milwaukee Brewers - who squeaked by the Pittsburgh Pirates, 1-0, at PNC Park - in the National League wild-card race was slimmed to one game. The Brewers' victory upped their postseason probability by 7.7 percent, as it also helped them keep pace with the Chicago Cubs, who maintained their 3 1/2-game lead atop the NL Central with a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.

In the American League, meanwhile, the Texas Rangers bolstered their remote playoff chances, picking up a game on the Minnesota Twins, who dropped their second straight contest Tuesday, with a 3-1 win over the Seattle Mariners in their series opener at Safeco Field. Still, even with the 3.4-percent jump, the Rangers' chances of sneaking into the postseason sit at just 5.1 percent, as they trail the Twins, who have occupied the second AL wild-card spot for the last two weeks, by 3 1/2 games.
