Blue Jays give Donaldson 1st career start at shortstop

Caylor Arnold / USA TODAY Sports

After giving him a taste at the position Friday against the Chicago Cubs, the Toronto Blue Jays are giving Josh Donaldson his first career start at shortstop in Sunday's series finale.

Along with Donaldson slotting over to the middle infield, regular right fielder Jose Bautista is shifting over to third base.

Prior to this season, Donaldson had only played one inning at shortstop in his career. That came in 2013, when he briefly manned the position for the Oakland Athletics against the Houston Astros.
