The Toronto Blue Jays announced Saturday they've acquired right-hander Tom Koehler from the Miami Marlins in exchange for minor-league right-hander Osman Gutierrez.

Koehler, 31, has struggled to a 7.92 ERA across 12 starts for the Marlins this season, allowing 67 hits in 55 2/3 innings.

He could provide the Blue Jays with additional depth in their starting rotation behind Marcus Stroman, Marco Estrada, and J.A. Happ, as well as possibly coming out of the bullpen.

Over the course of his six-year career, Koehler has appeared in 146 big-league games, 132 of which have been starts. He owns a record of 36-53, which includes an ERA of 4.43 and a WHIP of 1.40.

Gutierrez, a 22-year-old Venezuelan, has posted a 4-11 record with a 7.85 ERA in 18 starts at Single-A Lansing this season.

He's allowing 10.3 hits and six walks per nine innings.
