Report: Estrada claimed on trade waivers by unknown team

The July 31 non-waiver trade deadline may be a thing of the past, but that doesn't mean deals can't happen, which might be the case with Marco Estrada of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Estrada was claimed on trade waivers by an unknown team, according to sources of Jon Morosi of FOX Sports, although these waivers are revocable.

The Kansas City Royals were showing reported interest in the Mexican-born hurler before the July 31 trade deadline, but there's no indication as to whom the mystery team is.

After an All-Star campaign in 2016, the 34-year-old Estrada is in the midst of a down year, posting his highest ERA (4.85) since 2010 across 24 starts.

His hits per nine innings have also risen from 6.8 to 8.9, amid an increase in his walks per nine as well (up from 3.3 to 3.7).

Since arriving in Toronto prior to the 2015 season, Estrada has been a durable member of the team in both the bullpen and rotation, pitching 492 1/3 innings. During that time he's also earned a 27-24 record with a 3.73 ERA and 1.17 WHIP.

Estrada is eligible for free agency at the end of the season and is making the remainder of his $14.5 million salary.
