Rays' Ramos left bloodied after broken bat hits head

Tampa Bay Rays catcher Wilson Ramos left Monday's game in the fifth inning after he was struck in the head by the broken bat of Baltimore Orioles shortstop Ruben Tejada.

Tejada's bat shattered on the swing, with the barrel coming around to hit Ramos on the left side of his head, leaving him bloodied. Ramos was promptly removed from the game following a visit from the training staff and received six staples in his head in order to close the gash.

The 29-year-old was appearing in just his 16th game of the season after missing the first two-and-a-half months due to knee surgery.
