There could be a panda sighting at AT&T Park by mid-August.
San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Monday that Pablo Sandoval could receive a call-up to the majors in two-to-three weeks if all goes well during his minor-league assignment, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Sandoval reunited with the Giants on a minor-league deal Saturday following his release by the Boston Red Sox with more than $49 million remaining on his contract.
The Giants could need help at third base in the coming weeks with Eduardo Nunez potentially on the move before the non-waiver trade deadline in the next week.
Sandoval is 1-for-7 in two games with Single-A San Jose, and is expected to move up to Triple-A later this week.
