Athletics' Healy leaves game after taking ball to head

During the sixth inning of Friday night's game between the New York Mets and Oakland Athletics, Lucas Duda hit a screamer toward Ryon Healy that took a weird hop before hitting the A's first baseman in the ear.

After staying down for an extended period, Healy walked off the field with the help of the training staff. He was replaced defensively by Yonder Alonso.

Athletics manager Bob Melvin told reporters postgame that Healy didn't suffer a concussion on the play and was dealing with a head contusion after the ball struck his temple, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Healy also believes he'll be able to play tomorrow, if necessary.
