Watch: Rockies' Arenado caps 3-HR effort with 407-foot blast

Nolan Arenado slugged his way into the Colorado Rockies' history books Wednesday afternoon, smashing three home runs against the San Diego Padres at Coors Field to become just the 12th player in franchise history with a three-homer game.

His third blast, a 407-foot shot off Kevin Quackenbush in the sixth inning, accounted for his fifth hit of the contest.

Arenado, who clobbered 1,266 feet of home run Wednesday, is the second Rockies player in the last year to go deep thrice in a game, joining longtime teammate and two-time All-Star Charlie Blackmon, who hit three solo shots in a 10-6 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 12, 2016.

The 26-year-old's seven RBIs put him in some rarefied air, too, making him just the third player in Rockies history - along with Andres Galarraga and Troy Tulowitzki - to drive in at least seven runs in multiple games.
