Look, a hitter should always be looking to drive the ball early in the count, but sometimes you just got to protect the plate, man.
Alas, Atlanta-based sports broadcaster Kyle Tait took the more disciplined approach Saturday at his unborn baby's gender-reveal party and got burned for it, as the soon-to-be dad opted not to swing at his wife's offering - the ball, on contact, exploded into a colored powder representing the baby's gender - leading to a somewhat anti-climactic moment.
"Some say my wife threw a terrible pitch, some thought it was hittable," Tait told MLB.com. "A lot of people were saying, 'You had to swing at anything.'"
Joey Votto would be proud. Alcides Escobar, not so much.
