The 2017 trade deadline belongs to the New York Yankees.

After already making one blockbuster trade with the Chicago White Sox for Todd Frazier, David Robertson, and Tommy Kahnle, Brian Cashman is at it again.

The Yankees acquired right-hander Sonny Gray from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for minor-leaguers Dustin Fowler, Jorge Mateo, James Kaprielian, and international signing bonus-pool money.

Gray, 27, was a highly sought-after trade target of the Yankees and should give them another strong performer for their rotation. He owns a 6-5 record with a 3.43 ERA in 16 starts and will presumably slot in alongside Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia, Jaime Garcia, and Luis Severino in what has now become a strong Yankees rotation.

PITCHER GS IP W-L ERA WHIP SO
Sonny Gray 16 97 6-5 3.43 1.18 94
CC Sabathia 17 93.1 9-3 3.66 1.29 74
Masahiro Tanaka 21 123.2 8-9 5.09 1.27 132
Jaime Garcia 19 119.2 5-7 4.29 1.34 92
Luis Severino 20 127.2 7-4 3.03 1.09 145

Oakland receives the Yankees' Nos. 4 (Fowler), 8 (Mateo), and 12 (Kaprielian) prospects.

Fowler, 22, is currently on the 60-day disabled list after rupturing his right patella tendon after crashing into a wall in his MLB debut at the beginning of July. He was hitting .293/.329/.542 with 13 home runs and 43 RBIs in Triple-A before his injury.

The 22-year-old Mateo was a player the Athletics highly coveted. After struggling in Single-A, the Dominican was on a tear in Double-A, hitting .300/.381/.525 with 26 RBIs and 11 steals.

Kaprielian, 23, was a first-round draft choice of the Yankees in 2015 and pitched well in Single-A in 2016, posting a 1.50 ERA with a SO/9 rate of 11.0. He underwent Tommy John surgery this past April.
