Report: Braves among several teams interested in Profar
The Atlanta Braves appear to be showing interest in a former top prospect.
The club is among a handful of teams considering adding the Texas Rangers' Jurickson Profar through trade, sources told Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
Profar has appeared in only 22 major-league games this season, hitting .172/.294/.207, but performed considerably better in Triple-A (.300/.380/.438 with 22 doubles and 20 walks).
The 24-year-old was ranked by MLB as the best prospect in baseball in 2012 but has failed to live up to the hype, in large part due to injury and limited playing time.
Since making his major-league debut at age 19, Profar has appeared at five different positions: first base, shortstop, second, third, and left field. He also spent time as the Rangers' designated hitter. In just over 200 games, he's hit .229/.309/.329 with 12 home runs and 53 RBIs.
