6 All-Stars who could be traded before the deadline

On Tuesday evening, the best players from the first half of the 2017 season will suit up in bright-colored All-Star attire for their respective leagues to take part in the All-Star Game in Miami.

In 20 days, some of these same players may be on the move at the trade deadline after stellar performances for teams whose postseason chances are dwindling.

Here are six players in the Midsummer Classic who could change uniforms by the July 31 deadline.

Justin Smoak

The American League's starting first baseman in Tuesday's All-Star Game, Smoak has been the best player on a Toronto Blue Jays team that also has Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Kendrys Morales, Troy Tulowitzki, and Russell Martin. The switch-hitter has already belted a career-high 23 home runs and owns a .936 OPS. The New York Yankees are in the market for a first baseman and the short porch in right could be a dream for Smoak, who's set to earn the remainder of a $4.125-million salary for 2017.

Brad Hand

The San Diego Padres' prized left-hander out of their bullpen, Hand is a popular name on the trade market thanks to a season-and-a-half of sub-3 ERAs and premium durability (124 appearances). The Padres have reportedly had preliminary talks with teams about the 27-year-old southpaw, who is making peanuts ($1.375 million). However, they're apparently looking for a return similar to the one the Yankees received for Aroldis Chapman last season, which seems a little unrealistic.

Yonder Alonso

One of the biggest surprises of the first half, Alonso continues to hit. He's likely to be dealt by the Oakland Athletics, who sit 21 games out of first in the AL West. With free agency pending and a career-high 20 home runs and .934 OPS on his resume, the 30-year-old All-Star could be another option for the Yankees' void at first base.

Zack Cozart

Before this season, Cozart never posted an OPS higher than .769 (not including his 11-game stint in 2011). Now he's starting for the National League at the All-Star Game thanks to a .316/.394/.547 slash line for the lowly Cincinnati Reds. Although the Reds are interested in extending the 31-year-old pending free agent, he could wind up elsewhere. The Minnesota Twins look like a fit.

Pat Neshek

Neshek is one of the highlights of a Philadelphia Phillies squad that owns the worst record in baseball. The 36-year-old's posted a ridiculous 1.27 ERA over 38 appearances and is now a two-time All-Star. The Washington Nationals, Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Kansas City Royals have all been reportedly linked to the veteran.

Yu Darvish

Although Jose Quintana and Sonny Gray have been the popular names in trade reports heading into the deadline, Darvish is another ace who could be available. The 30-year-old - who won't pitch in the All-Star Game after being selected - is in his walk year, owns some of the best stuff in baseball, and pitches for a team playing below .500. If the Texas Rangers scuffle approaching the deadline, they may pull the plug on the season and try to deal the Japanese hurler so they can acquire something for him before he has a chance to leave for greener pastures in the offseason. The Yankees, Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers reportedly showed interest in Quintana and/or Gray. One of them may take a look at Darvish as well.
