Bellinger becomes fastest player ever to record 6 multi-HR games

After Cody Bellinger tied the record for most home runs in a month by a National League rookie on Sunday, it took the 21-year-old just three more plate appearances in the very same game to break the record, as Bellinger hit his 13th home run of June in the Dodgers' 10th consecutive win.

Adding further intrigue, Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies was Bellinger's sixth multi-homer outing of his career - a career that has spanned just 57 games. That's the most ever by a Dodgers rookie, as Bellinger surpassed Mike Piazza after going deep off of Adam Ottavino in the eighth inning.

In addition to setting the club's all-time rookie mark, Bellinger became the fastest player in major-league history to record six multi-home run games, according to MLB.

It's probably worth mentioning that Bellinger's season began on April 25, 19 games into the Dodgers' 2017 campaign, and he hasn't even accrued enough at-bats to be a qualified hitter yet.

Bellinger needs just one more multi-dinger game to tie Mark McGwire for the all-time single-season lead as a rookie. With Bellinger not yet at the All-Star break, it isn't inconceivable that he threatens the overall record for multi-homer games in a season, either - a mark held by Sammy Sosa and Hank Greenberg, who had 11 such games in 1998 and 1938, respectively.

Overall, Bellinger has slashed an impressive .274/.342/.679 in his debut campaign while hitting 57 percent better than the league average by wRC+.

Bellinger is currently in second place in all of MLB with 24 home runs - just two behind fellow rookie Aaron Judge.
