Price dealing with cracked fingernail following Saturday's loss

David Price just can't seem to have an uncomplicated day in 2017.

The Boston hurler left Saturday's start against the Los Angeles Angels after six innings and 103 pitches, a fairly standard workload, but it then came out that he's suffered a cracked fingernail on the middle finger of his left hand, according to the Boston Herald's Matt Kalman.

"Felt like this is something he's dealt with in the past, knows that it can lead to something that might affect him more," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "So to take him out of the game at that time rather than risk further cracking of the nail and further severity to the way it feels."

Farrell added that the injury isn't expected to keep him out of his next scheduled start, which is supposed to come during the upcoming four-game set against the Minnesota Twins.

The game itself was a step in the right direction for Price, who gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits with five strikeouts and only one walk. More importantly, it was the first time this season where Price did not allow a home run.
