Trio of Athletics rookies belt 1st HRs in same game
What a day it was to be an Oakland Athletics rookie.
On Saturday afternoon, Franklin Barreto, Jaycob Brugman, and Matt Olson all delivered their first big-league home runs in the same game off Chicago White Sox starter James Shields at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The miraculous feat by the three rookies was just the second time three teammates have hit their first major-league home runs in the same game, with the first coming April 26, 1914, when Duke Kenworthy, Art Kruger, and John Potts did so for the Kansas City Packers of the Federal League, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Elias explains the Federal League played as a third major league during 1914 and '15.
Saturday's contest was just the 15th of Brugman's career, eighth of Olson's, and the big-league debut for Barreto, Oakland's top prospect.
