Salvador Perez couldn't have picked a better time to smack his first career grand slam.
With his surging Kansas City Royals trailing by two in the eighth against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, Perez, facing Robby Scott with the bases loaded, deposited a 91-mph heater into the seats in left at Kauffman Stadium, lifting his club to an eventual 6-4 victory with his first grand slam in 749 career games.
His blast, a 412-foot shot, propelled the Royals to a fourth consecutive series victory - they haven't lost a series in June, in fact - and was the first grand slam by a Kansas City hitter in the eighth inning or later with his team down since 1986. (And, in case you were wondering, Perez did it using Miguel Cabrera's bat).

The Royals, who entered Wednesday's series finale 3 1/2 games back of first place in the American League Central, are now 9-2 over their last 11 contests.
