Watch: Heyward makes unlikely diving catch look easy

Matt Marton / USA TODAY Sports

For a moment, it looked like Matt Carpenter would safely be standing at first base - if not second - after hitting a sharp flare off Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks in the top of the first inning Sunday night.

Jason Heyward wasn't having any of it.

Heyward charged, dove, and robbed his former St. Louis Cardinals teammate of a sure hit, preventing the first hit of the game from being recorded.
