Top White Sox prospect Giolito tosses 7-inning no-hitter in Triple-A
It looks like the Adam Eaton trade is already paying dividends - at least at the minor-league level - for the Chicago White Sox, as Lucas Giolito threw a seven-inning no-hitter for the team's Triple-A affiliate Thursday night.
Giolito allowed just three baserunners over his seven innings of work as the Charlotte Knights pulled off a 4-0 victory against the Syracuse Chiefs - the Triple-A affiliate for the Washington Nationals, who traded him away this past offseason.
The game was the first of a doubleheader, which explains why the game was made official after just seven innings.
The 22-year-old Giolito was the key piece in an offseason deal that also netted the White Sox right-handed pitching prospects Reynaldo Lopez and Dane Dunning in exchange for shipping Eaton to the Nationals.
Giolito is currently the No. 1 pitching prospect in all of baseball, and has been since 2014, according to MLB.com.
With a Game Score of 79, Giolito needed just 87 pitches and three strikeouts to earn his no-hitter.
He has logged just 21 1/3 innings in the major leagues - all with the Nationals last year.
