Watch: Giants' Williamson goes deep off of Wade Davis after 12-pitch battle
Scott Kane / USA TODAY Sports
Chicago Cubs closer Wade Davis knows a thing or two about never, ever giving up home runs. But don't tell Mac Williamson.
After a 12-pitch battle, including fouling off eight of Davis' offerings, Williamson took Davis to opposite field on a 91-mph cutter. Davis hadn't allowed a home run since September 2015, more than 60 innings ago.
The San Francisco Giants would end up falling just short after Williamson's two-run shot, as Joe Panik stranded the tying run on second base with a questionable strikeout call in a full count.
