Watch: Judge hits opposite-field bomb for 15th HR of season

Peter G. Aiken / USA TODAY Sports

After five games without gracing the world with another home run, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge went deep to the opposite field off Tampa Bay Rays starter Matt Andriese in Saturday's game.

The impressive dinger is Judge's 15th of the season, surpassing Freddie Freeman for the MLB lead, in only the Yankees' 40th game, which lumps Judge in with some impressive company. As pointed out by RiverAveBlues.com's Katie Sharp, only four other Yankees have hit 15 home runs in the team's first 40 games of a season.

Years that end in seven seem to be favored, as Alex Rodriguez was the last to do it in 2007 and Tino Martinez did it before him in 1997. Otherwise, Mickey Mantle hit the mark in 1956 and the inimitable Babe Ruth mashed with such abandon that he accomplished the feat on four separate occasions.
