Derek Jeter, one of the best shortstops baseball has ever seen, officially unveiled his No. 2 in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium on Sunday.

After 20 seasons with the New York Yankees, the surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer holds several all-time franchise records, including hits, doubles, plate appearances, and stolen bases.

He becomes the 22nd player in team history to have his number retired. The last Yankees players to have their numbers taken out of circulation were Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, and Andy Pettitte (No. 46) in 2015.

Jeter's now among Yankee legends including Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, and Mickey Mantle in Monument Park. Coincidentally, Jeter's number retirement fell on the 50th anniversary of Mantle's 500th home run, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

Among the longtime players and former teammates of Jeter's who attended the ceremony Sunday were Mariano Rivera, Tino Martinez, Paul O'Neil, Posada, Matsui, and Williams.
