Ransom started last season with the Diamondbacks but was claimed off waivers by the Brewers in May. He was claimed back by Arizona for the final month of the season. Altogether last season, the 36-year-old played all four infield positions, hitting .220/.312/.411 with 11 home runs and 14 doubles in 282 at-bats.
