Daniel Murphy has enjoyed hitting against pretty much everyone since signing with the Washington Nationals two winters ago, but the two-time All-Star, now one of the game's top players, goes absolutely bananas whenever he plays his old pals from Queens.
Heading into Sunday's game at Citi Field, Murphy had hit a whopping .393/.429/.714 in 21 contests against the New York Mets across his season-plus with Washington, and the 32-year-old continued to torment his erstwhile employer in the series finale, launching a first-inning grand slam off Zack Wheeler to give the Nationals an early 4-0 lead.
Having employed him for nearly a decade, the Mets should've known not to let Murphy hit with the bases loaded. Over the last three seasons, Murphy has put up a .520/.538/.920 line with the sacks clogged.
