The New York Mets have enjoyed a nice early return on their $110-million investment.
Yoenis Cespedes took over the major-league lead with his fifth and sixth homers of the year Thursday night at Marlins Park.
The two-time All-Star absolutely demolished a 427-foot solo shot over the wall in left center in the third inning off Miami starter Wei-Yin Chen. He followed it up with a 402-foot solo homer two innings later off Jose Urena to give him six round trippers in the last three games.
It's the second multi-home outing in 10 games this season for Cespedes. He accomplished the feat just once in 132 games last season.
