Giants' Denard Span: Still out with sore hip

Span (hip) is out of the lineup Friday in San Diego, the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman reports.

Analysis:

He tried to do some baseball activities in an effort to be available off the bench Thursday, but he will nonetheless sit for the fourth straight game. Joe Panik will move into the leadoff spot with Gorkys Hernandez starting in center field and batting eighth.
