Mets' Matt Harvey: Picks up win in season debut

Harvey (1-0) was effective Thursday against the Braves, tossing 6.2 innings of three-hit ball while allowing two earned runs and striking out four en route to the victory.

Analysis:

The embattled 28-year-old had lots of question marks surrounding his season debut given his disappointing 2016 campaign, his offseason surgery, and his inconsistent spring showing, but he casted all doubts aside with a strong showing versus Atlanta. Although Harvey did serve up two home runs to Matt Kemp, those blemishes were overshadowed by his command (55 of his 77 offerings were strikes) and his high velocity (peaking at 95 mph). Harvey will look to build off this performance in his next start Tuesday against the Phillies.
