Reds' Bronson Arroyo: Penciled in as fifth starter
Arroyo is tentatively scheduled to make his first start for the Reds on Saturday, April 8 against the Cardinals, but will not be on the Opening Day roster, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports.
Analysis:
Arroyo pitched Tuesday in a minor-league game against the Dodgers, throwing 74 pitches over 4.1 innings. He allowed three homers, albeit on a minor-league field that manager Bryan Price discounted. He'll make one more minor-league start Sunday. The Reds will hold out Cody Reed from bullpen work for the first couple of games of the season just to make sure that Arroyo is healthy enough to make his first start.
