Tigers' Anibal Sanchez: Transitions to bullpen
Sanchez will pitch out of the Tigers' bullpen to begin the season, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Analysis:
Sanchez was in competition with Matt Boyd for the fifth spot in the starting rotation, but after a very pedestrian spring performance (5.03 ERA in 19.2 innings), the team has decided to transition the 33-year-old to the bullpen. He'll likely work in long relief and serve as an emergency starter if injuries arise to one of the arms in the rotation.
