Red Sox's Tyler Thornburg: Scratched with back spasms

Thornburg was scratched from Monday's spring game with an upper right trapezius spasm, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.

Analysis:

Thornburg was already up against the clock to be ready for Opening Day, and it appears this latest setback will most likely land him on the DL to start the 2017 campaign. With Thornburg out, Joe Kelly will presumably slot into the setup role, while Robby Scott could replace the 28-year-old on the Opening Day roster as the third lefty in the bullpen.
