Phillies' Chris Coghlan: Roster decision looming
Coghlan can request his release if he is not added to the Phillies' roster by Sunday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Analysis:
The Phillies actually have 48 hours from Sunday to put Coghlan on the roster, presumably to give them time to make another roster move since they don't currently have an open spot on their 40-man. Coghlan could also request his immediate release Sunday to pursue another opportunity. He is competing with Brock Stassi, Daniel Nava and Jesmuel Valentin for one of two bench jobs.
