Nationals' Enny Romero: Continues strong spring Tuesday
Romero allowed one hit and struck out one in a shutout inning of relief during Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Braves.
Analysis:
He has yet to allow a run this spring, either for the Nats or with the Dominican Republic during the WBC, and the lefty sports a 7:1 K:BB in 6.2 combined innings between the two teams. Romero is out of minor league options, which already gave him a leg up in the competition for a spot in the Washington bullpen, but his high-90s heat and impressive run of performances should secure him a job. If the Nats' other closer candidates falter over the first couple of months of the season, it's not out of the question Romero gets a look in the ninth inning, but for now he will likely find himself in much lower-leverage situations.
