Toronto Blue Jays star Jose Bautista admitted it'd be a little uncomfortable squaring off against Marcus Stroman, a teammate and friend, in Saturday's WBC showdown between his native Dominican Republic and the United States, but the six-time All-Star knows how to cut through the awkwardness.
Before stepping in against Stroman in the first inning at Marlins Park, Bautista shot his buddy a little wink and a smile, tacitly reassuring the 25-year-old right-hander, "We're still boys, even if I go yahtzee right here."
Ultimately, though, Stroman got the best of his decorated teammate, inducing an inning-ending pop-up on a 3-2 count.
