Dodgers' Chris Taylor: Candidate for utility infielder

Taylor is one of several options being considered for a backup utility infielder position heading into the regular season, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.

Analysis:

General manager Farhad Zaidi said that the club wants to carry an extra backup infielder who has experience at short. Taylor fits the bill and will compete with Enrique Hernandez and Charlie Culberson this spring. Taylor has a career slash line of .234/.289/.309 in 318 career plate appearances, so he will have to really stand out to earn a roster spot.
