Jeter to build 8-foot fence around home to restrict paparazzi

Derek Jeter seems to prefer life without flashing lights, and that includes cameras handled by paparazzi.

The New York Yankees legend has received special permission from the city of Tampa Bay, Fla., to build an extension to his current 6-foot-high front-yard fence to eight feet in order to expand privacy in his home, according to David K. Li of the New York Post.

"People hang out there," Jeter’s representative Stephen Michelini told board members, according to the Post. "They come at all times of the day and night. The neighbors themselves have become the enforcers here, and frankly, they're getting a little tired of it."

The city of Tampa Bay enforces a law that front fences can be 3-feet tall and in some cases can reach four feet if it's a chained link. However, neighbors of Jeter - a group that includes former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Brad Culpepper - wrote a letter to the city supporting Jeter and his wife Hannah Davis.

Jeter's Tampa Bay mansion is 32,700 square feet, and includes nine bedrooms and bathrooms, two three-car garages, and a dock that can hold five boats.
