Report: Napoli seeking 3-year deal
After jumping around three different teams over the past two seasons, free-agent slugger Mike Napoli is looking for some security with his next contract.
The 35-year-old is coming off a strong year with the Cleveland Indians and is reportedly seeking a three-year deal this winter, club executives told Buster Olney of ESPN.
Napoli hit .224/.324/.410 with 18 home runs split between the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox in 2015, but bounced back in a big way with the Indians last season after signing a one-year, $7-million contract. He slashed .239/.335/.465 with 32 home runs and 22 doubles in a career-high 150 games.
The Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros have shown interest in Napoli so far this offseason. The Indians are also open to a reunion, though Olney notes they would prefer to sign someone to a one-year deal.
