The Philadelphia Phillies announced Wednesday the hiring of Matt Stairs as their hitting coach.

In addition, the club announced that all coaches were invited back and have agreed to contracts for the 2017 season.

Stairs replaces Steve Henderson, who was dismissed a day after the regular season ended. Phillies hitters finished last in the majors in runs scores, and ranked 29th in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging.

Over 19 major-league seasons, Stairs donned a Phillies jersey for two years, in 2008 and 2009, when he belted seven homers in 115 games.

Stairs is MLB's all-time leader with 23 pinch-hit home runs. He served as a Phillies broadcaster for the past three seasons.
