For a large contingent of Chicago Cubs fans, Saturday night's pennant-clinching victory was more than just about baseball.

With a championship drought more than 100 years old - and nearly three quarters of a century since their team last made the World Series - a subsection of fans basked in the Cubs' historic NLCS win by reflecting on their late loved ones who supported the franchise through decades of losing.

One fan, whose name is Megan Olsen according to her Twitter account, shared this photo Sunday of her grandfather's grave draped in a Cubs "Flying W" T-shirt.

Following the Cubs' 5-0 victory over the Dodgers, the emotional scene at Wrigley Field brought many fans to tears as they remembered relatives who had passed away.

Ed Koenig of Darien, Il. told Jacob Wittich of the Chicago Sun-Times he didn't plan on going to a Cubs game this season until his friend won a lottery for tickets to Game 6. His father died in May.

"I thought I was going without my dad," he said while wearing his father's watch. "But I’m with him."

Another fan, Ryan Patrick, celebrated in the streets outside Wrigley as he soaked in the emotions.

"My dad died in 2009, and he never got to see the Cubs in the World Series, but I feel him here tonight with us. This is the greatest thing that's ever happened. And I’ve never felt so amazing."
