Pirates' Casey Sadler: Re-signs with Pirates on minor league pact

Sadler re-signed with the Pirates on a minor league contract Tuesday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

Analysis:

Sadler missed all of 2016 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in November of 2015, but the Pirates will bring him back to their minor league ranks as he attempts to mount a comeback. He appeared in the major leagues in both 2014 and 2015, but he'll likely need to thoroughly impress with his performance and his health in the minor leagues if he wants another shot at the majors.
