Reds' Zack Cozart: Transferred to 60-day disabled list
The Reds transferred Cozart (knee) to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday.
Analysis:
Cozart had an outside shot to play before the regular season ended, but his move to the 60-day DL means he will not play again until 2017. He hit a career-high 16 home runs this season and posted a .733 OPS, so he figures to head into next year as a regular shortstop. Whether that is for the Reds remains to be seen, however, as he could bring prospects on the trade market to a Cincinnati team that may be looking at another rebuilding season.
