Royals' Edinson Volquez: Lasts only 2.2 innings in Sunday's no-decision
Volquez gave up four runs on six hits and four walks over 2.2 innings while striking out one in Sunday's no-decision against Detroit.
Analysis:
The Royals staked him to an early 7-0 lead, but when Volquez gave most of that back in the bottom of the third, he got a quick hook. He's managed just one quality start in his last eight trips to the mound, posting an unsightly 7.05 ERA and 27:18 K:BB in 37 innings over that stretch. The righty's final start of the season is scheduled for Friday at home against the Indians.
