Evan Longoria was playing host to a rookie in the Tampa Bay Rays clubhouse prior to Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees at Tropicana Field.

The third baseman welcomed 6-year-old Colton Paulk, who has Hodgkin's lymphoma, into the clubhouse, showing him a special locker with his name on it. Longoria is Paulk's favorite player.

Two days after Paulk's birthday last March, his own baseball season was cut short when he was diagnosed with the illness, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The die-hard Rays fan had his wish to hang out with the team granted through the Child Dream Fund.
